RWAV is proud to have hosted a breakfast at the Victorian Parliament today, shining a spotlight on the critical role we play in strengthening rural and regional healthcare across Victoria.
This important event brought together Members of Parliament, health leaders, practitioners and RWAV representatives to raise awareness of the current needs in rural and regional healthcare. RWAV continues to support government in the delivery of its health commitments now and into the future.
Discussions focused on the future of the health workforce in Victoria, the need for stronger investment in rural health, and addressing barriers to attracting and retaining healthcare professionals.
RWAV’s CEO, board members, and general managers had the absolute honour of meeting:
- Hon Mary-Anne Thomas MP MLA (ALP), Minister for Health, Minister for Ambulance Services, Member for Macedon
- Hon Michaela Settle MLA (ALP), Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Victoria, Parliamentary Secretary for Community Sport, Member for Eureka
- Hon Peter Walsh MLA (Nat), Member for Murray Plains
- Simon Hammersley, Senior Advisor to Minister Tierney, Minister for Skills and Tafe, Minister for Water, Member for Western Victoria
We were also joined by rural practitioners Dr Stephen Tudge (ENT), Jessica Moller (Gippsland Lakes Complete Health), Brenton Kiel (Goulburn Valley Physiotherapy Centre).
We look forward to continuing these meaningful conversations and building strong partnerships to ensure every Victorian has access to equitable quality healthcare, no matter where they live.
