RWAV covers all rural and regional Victoria classified as remoteness areas 2-5.
We work with solo practices, group practices and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Centres.
Vacancies typically range from one to six weeks or more, full and part-time or just weekend cover. Practices may ask for 10 sessions per week; however, if you wish to do less this can usually be accommodated.
Locum GPs determine their own rates.
Rural session fees in Victoria currently average $550 per session (3.5 hrs) excluding GST or 70% + billings, whichever is greater.
Visiting medical officer and on-call fees are determined by the practice and are paid in addition to session fees. Practices are required to pay reasonable travel costs or in some cases will supply a vehicle.
All terms and preferences are negotiated by RWAV on your behalf; however, on-call, after hours and hostel and nursing home visits are sometimes required. Some practices also require locums to have visiting medical officer rights.
If the location is not commutable practices must provide suitable self-contained accommodation with cooking facilities. Practices are only required to cover accommodation for the locum and their partner, if you wish to bring additional family members there may be an additional cost.
