VicOutreach programs significantly improve the range of health services available to rural, regional and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities (in remoteness areas 2-5). It enables access to health professionals in areas where they cannot attract, or it is not viable to sustain, a local service provider.

RWAV administers five outreach programs providing a flexible funding pool to support health professionals delivering these outreach services. In some cases program funding may also extend to the patients and carers.

Priorities include increasing access to maternal, paediatric and mental healthcare, chronic disease management and primary ear and eye care for these communities.

VicOutreach programs are Commonwealth funded and predominantly cover travel, accommodation, meals and other associated costs.
