Rural Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV) supports general practitioners to pursue a rural career in Victoria through a free recruitment service and professional development opportunities.
Our aim is to ensure a sustainable health workforce in Victoria’s rural, regional and Aboriginal communities. This includes GPs in training seeking permanent positions before and after fellowship.
Our recruitment team use a comprehensive approach for your placement and settlement – assessing your eligibility, skills, experience and professional and educational goals to match you with a practice to suit your needs. Services are free of charge and on-going post-placement support for you and your family is also provided.
We pride ourselves on sourcing quality GP positions for doctors at all stages in their career.
RWAV will guide you through the recruitment process and work to match you and your family with the most ideal position, practice and community.
There are several programs that support GPs, GP registrars and interns working in rural and regional Victoria. These programs give you access to educational, professional and skill development opportunities to meet the needs of the community.
With a background as an orthopaedic surgeon working in India and the UK, Dr Swapnil Singh made the decision to move to Australia in 2014 after visiting his brother in law and seeing what life as a country GP had to offer. Having recently been recruited to Lime Medical Clinic in Mildura through RWAV, Dr Singh shares with us his rural GP journey in country NSW and Victoria, and why Mildura is the right place for him and his family.
