General Practitioner: Rutherglen

Due to a doctor moving and an increase in GP demand, two vacancies; one full-time and one part-time are available at Rutherglen Medical Centre, a branch practice of Corowa Medical Centre. No procedural skills are required. Anaesthetics would be useful but not essential.

The successful GP will have a detailed orientation and induction into both practices. Ongoing support and mentorship is assured. They will also be assisted to find accommodation, schools, playgroups and the local council will support them integrate into the community.

The experienced team of doctors are highly qualified, with extensive experience across a range of medicine, allowing you access to valuable mentorship towards fellowship if required.
You’ll have the flexibility to be engaged on a salary basis, or as an independent contractor.

Essential Criteria:

  • AHPRA registration – (Level three and above) supervision is available
  • Excellent communication and English skills

The Package:

  • The expected remuneration will be $150K – $300K, depending on sessions worked and whether they are engaged as an employee or contractor
  • Should the GP be engaged as an employee, the contract will include four weeks annual leave, up to 10 days sick leave, long service leave, one week paid study leave and superannuation

Practice Details:

Rutherglen Medical Centre is a branch practice of the Corowa Medical Centre, 12 km across the Murray River in NSW. It is an accredited, computerised, mixed billing practice with a long history of providing excellent registrar training and supporting medical students’ education.

Currently the group practice employs ten doctors, a general manager, a nurse manager, 1.2 FTE practice nurses and administration staff. All doctors have a broad base in rural general practice.  Special interests within the practice include surgery, obstetrics, anaesthetics, occupational health and safety, sports medicine, and undergraduate and post-graduate teaching. The practice is proud of its ability to retain doctors and support staff for long periods ensuring stability in patient care. Most of the nursing and administration staff are part-time and the practice provides a flexible working environment that suits doctors and support staff.

Rutherglen Clinic is housed in a modern, purpose built facility with three consulting rooms and a treatment room that is used for general family medicine, lesions, other minor surgery, wound management, ECGs, immunisations and health assessments. It also has a full range of allied health services.

Support for the doctors includes pathology, a diabetes educator, a dietician, a mental health worker and a psychologist.

Practice hours are Monday to Thursday, 9.00 am – 5.30 pm

Patient health issues that mostly impact the practice are aged care, and child and maternity related. The increasing popularity of the area with holidaymakers, retirees and families attracted by the climate and lifestyle ensures a broad mix of health care issues.

Rutherglen is located in the award-winning wine district in North East Victoria. It has beautiful restaurants and cafes, and is only minutes from the picturesque Murray River. It is located at the foothills of the snowy mountains. Albury Wodonga is 40 minutes away, Wangaratta is 30 minutes away, 3 hours from Melbourne, and 4 hours from Canberra.
