Opportunity for experienced Practice Nurse to join an established friendly team to ensure smooth and efficient functioning of the practice and provide an exceptional standard of care and best evidence practice to all patients.

Working across both Kialla and Mooroopna medical centres, you will be working with a large range of patients from all types of demographics and age groups from newborns right up to geriatrics covering all areas of clinical nursing and administration. The practices provide a wide range of medical services with a special interest in Women’s and Men’s Health Issues, Palliative Care, Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Travel Medicine,  Minor Surgery, and preventative health promotion.

Their nurses are a pivotal part of day to day running of the practice and help with triage, childhood immunisations, chronic disease management, wound care, care plans, Vaccine Management and Infection Control Processes as well as maintaining equipment and supplies.

Key Selection Criteria: (Please address this in your cover letter)

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification & AHPRA registration
  • Minimum of 3 year’s nursing experience, as practice nurse or community-based nursing
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of general practice and interest in Community-based nursing including patient education and health promotion.
  • Knowledge of current immunisation schedules, Diabetes management, asthma management, enhanced primary care items, infection control, CPR and Emergency resuscitation techniques (including current CPR certificate), equipment & drugs.
  • Competence in the use of relevant equipment & software
  • Experience with specific social groups serviced by practice, such as adolescents,  Aged care, migrant or refuge groups, aboriginals & Torres Straight islanders, etc.
  • Additional qualifications such as Accredited Women’s Health Certificate, Diabetes Education Certificate, Asthma/Spirometry qualification/education is desirable
  • Training or experience in Medicare item numbers & health funds
  • Member of APNA – desirable

Practice Details:

Mooroopna Medical Management incorporates both Kialla Medical Clinic and Mooroopna Medical Centre. The ethos of the practices is to provide high-quality holistic evidence-based medicine in an atmosphere of caring and compassion. The practices are fully computerised mixed billing practices owned and operated by local experienced GPs.  The team is comprised of 7 GPs  2 Practice Nurses, experienced administration staff, and a Practice Manager. The clinic also has onsite pathology.

Kialla and Mooroopna are rapidly expanding suburbs just 3km away from the centre of Shepparton.  The City of Greater Shepparton (population 35,000) is synonymous with great weather, wine, food, and waterways. The region is renowned internationally for quality fresh and processed fruit, dairy, and agricultural products with many of the oldest and best wineries in Australia found in the region.  Shepparton has an active cultural community including a regional art gallery, excellent sporting clubs, and facilities. There is a large and varied modern shopping centre, together with many excellent restaurants featuring the local produce.
