Nexus community health have an opportunity for Grade 1 Speech Pathologist who is passionate about working with children to join their dynamic friendly team. The position is based at newly re-furbished Broadford clinics but will work between all Nexus sites and also on an outreach basis across 2 rural areas.

As the Paediatric Speech Pathologist you will fulfill a diverse and flexible role in the provision of speech pathology services to all members of the community. You will provide clinical assessment and evidenced based treatment of various speech related conditions though individual consultation and group programs for children up to 18 years of age.
The Speech Pathologist is a member of the Children’s Allied Health Team, which includes a variety of allied health disciplines who work together including participating in case conferencing and multidisciplinary care planning where appropriate.

You will design service delivery within specific funding source requirements and consider most appropriate funding options for clients to enhance service delivery. There is also opportunity to be involved in Health education and Promotion.

Key Selection Criteria: (Please address this in your cover letter)

  • Bachelor or Master of Speech Pathology
  • Membership with Speech Pathology Australia
  • Thorough understanding of age appropriate development in speech and language
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children with atypical development
  • Knowledge and experience of working with children with disabilities
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to initiate and maintain contacts with, clients, team members and a range of service providers.
  • A sensitive approach to working with individuals and a philosophy of empowerment.
  • Knowledge and experience of NDIS and additional funding sources’ billing procedures and associated documentation requirements.
  • Eligible to provide service under a variety of funding sources and to obtain practitioner provider numbers as required.
  • Current Level II First Aid Certificate
  • Current Victorian Driver’s license.
