Paediatric Psychologist: Gisborne

Are you passionate about making improvements to the lives of children and young adults? An exciting opportunity exists to provide psychology services to the paediatric and youth community in and around the Gisborne region.

Working with a multidisciplinary team you will provide personalised psychology services across different funding streams including NDIS, and support the community health practice through group work and health promotion.

Key Selection Criteria: (please address this in your application)


  • Tertiary Qualifications in Psychology
  • Current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (with appropriate endorsement)
  • Experience in paediatric and youth mental health management
  • Experience in working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Experience in the provision of group work
  • Competence in evidence based therapies
  • Good diagnostic/formulation/risk assessment skills. Evidence based therapy for mood, anxiety (often in context of grief and trauma)
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to your role, including accreditation requirements
  • Demonstrated analytical, written & verbal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work innovatively and unsupervised, both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to liaise across the full spectrum of health and welfare services
  • Evidence of flexibility in approach to service delivery
  • Computer literacy
  • An understanding of the principles of health promotion
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, plan and implement new service strategies
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check and Working with Children Check


  • Experience in family therapy
  • Experience with managing children with disability
  • Behavioural issues, emotional dysregulation, self harming, suicidal ideations
  • Evidence of commitment to continuous quality improvement and professional development
  • Evidence of ability to develop strong working relationships with a range of people both internal and external to the organisation
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for participating in the development of innovative models of care
