The Role:

There is an exciting opportunity in a mixed billing group practice to take over a busy existing patient base. This is due to a senior GP retiring. You will offer 10 sessions per week and see a mix of 25 to 30 patients per day from children to the elderly. You will be engaged as an independent contractor and your typical day will include standard consultations, procedures, chronic management (care plans & AHAs), medicals, telehealth appointments, walk-ins and referrals from the local hospital.

Women’s health and obstetrics skills would be desirable but not mandatory. Your existing procedural skills or interest in a particular area will be highly regarded and supported for you to develop further. As part of the role, you will provide one or two nursing home and a few home visits, and also take part in the two evenings on calls per month and one weekend day per month on average. A personally tailored induction will be delivered to seamlessly transition you into the clinic.

Ongoing mentoring and supervision support is available from the Principals.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current AHPRA medical registration
  • Australian health system experience (hospital or general practice)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Women’s health and obstetrics would be desirable but not mandatory

The Package:

  • Non-equity associate – % of billings
  • $420,000 approx annual earning
  • Higher % of billings for After-hours / On-call
  • Orientation kit is available

Practice Details:

This AGPAL accredited clinic, using Best Practice, is a concept clinic created in 2010 from a collaboration of local GPs to emphasize professional medical care within a friendly and relaxed family atmosphere.  The clinic consists of fourteen GPs, six practice nurses, a care coordinator, a practice manager and administration staff.

The practice provides broad-based clinical care with aged care, care plans and chronic disease impacting most on the practice.

Trusted referral pathways exist to local clinicians and to Central Gippsland Health Service.  On-site specialists include physiotherapy, psychiatry, psychology, podiatry, dietetics, diabetes educator, and hypnotherapy including smoking cessation and weight loss. Pharmacy, pathology, fifteen consulting, three treatment and three procedure rooms are available in the clinic.

Practice hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.30pm; and Saturday, 8.30am – 12.00pm.

Located between the large Gippsland centres of Traralgon and Bairnsdale, Sale is three hours’ drive east of Melbourne and a river port connection to the extensive Gippsland Lakes network.  The port provides access to the entire lakes region, eventually connecting to the ocean at Lakes Entrance.  A bustling regional centre, take time out to relax at a selection of cafes and restaurants, explore Sale Common and the Port of Sale precinct or check out the local artistic talents at the renowned Art Gallery.
