You’ll have flexibility to choose to work either full-time or part-time, and there are no VMO or after-hours/on-call requirements; allowing you to truly make the most of living in this beautiful part of Victoria.

The resident population of Mallacoota is skewed towards an older population which leads to a variety of pathologies and illnesses. Managing complex chronic disease is a mainstay of the practice. Mallacoota is subject to a large influx of tourists during the warmer months of the year and this results in an increase in acute presentations to the clinic, this provides seasonal variety to the medicine practice at the clinic. More recently, due to the bushfire disaster in the area has resulted in the local GPs providing a role in initial counselling and referral of increased mental health presentations.

Essential Criteria

  • AHPRA Registration – General or Specialist GP
  • Australian General Practice experience
  • Broad medical experience across all patient demographics

Practice Details:

Mallacoota’s new $721,000 medical centre opened its doors mid last year and is fully equiped to support the community.

This AGPAL accredited teaching practice has a cohesive and enthusiastic working environment where all staff are dedicated to providing an holistic approach to patient treatments.

The new centre has three consulting rooms, a treatment room, training room, office space and a nurse practitioner room. It is also be fitted with video conferencing and other specialist equipment to help reduce the need for patients to travel to Orbost, Bairnsdale or Bega for treatment.

The practice principal is an experienced rural general practitioner. She enjoys teaching and imparting her experience and is an ACRRM and RACGP accredited supervisor. She will mentor a doctor new to rural general practice. You will also be able to share ideas and experiences with another doctor that is a current RVTS registrar.

The tight knit team is also supported by a practice nurse, a practice manager and two receptionists.

Services provided by the centre include; psychology, visiting cardiology service, accredited cardiac and respiratory rehabilitation services, Youth health service “Teen Clinic”, Point-of-care Ultrasound, as well as a social worker with mental health training, a dietitian & allied health assistant,  district nurses, physiotherapist, paramedic, visiting podiatrist, optometrist, audiologist, speech pathologist and a occupational therapist.

On site pathology is available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

Open hours: Monday to Friday 9:00am – 12:00pm and 2:00pm – 5:00pm.
