About Kialla-

Kialla is part of the City of Greater Shepparton and is located just 3km away from the city centre of Shepparton. It is a rapidly expanding residential area on the southern side of Shepparton.

The City of Greater Shepparton (population 35,000) is synonymous with great weather, wine, food and waterways. The region is renowned internationally for quality fresh and processed fruit, dairy and agricultural products. The area is responsible for producing around 25 per cent of Victoria’s rural output.

Early settlers discovered that the soils of the Goulburn and Murray valleys were ideal for stone fruit and grapes. Many of the oldest and best wineries in Australia are in the region together with many excellent restaurants featuring local produce.

The wetlands of the region are home to an abundance of flora and fauna and the ancient red gums of the Barmah Forest are celebrated. A network of parks, reserves and forests follow the paths of the Goulburn and Broken Rivers through Shepparton, offering good bushwalking tracks and picnic spots. There is a dense state forest between Shepparton and neighbouring Mooroopna along the river, with the Peter Ross Edwards Causeway (Midland Highway) cutting through it to link the two communities together.

Shepparton has an active cultural community including a renowned regional art gallery and excellent sporting clubs and facilities. There is a large and varied modern shopping centre.

A wide choice of schooling options from pre-school to tertiary are on offer at Shepparton. The town is home to a Latrobe University campus, TAFE College, and the University of Melbourne’s School of Rural Health.
