General Practitioner: Garfield

Position Description:

  • Great business opportunity for a VR GP or GP close to Fellowship – position vacant due to retirement

Role 

Excellent business opportunity for the right candidate looking for 1-2 sessions to start with, with the view to take over the clinic in the future after VR GP’s retirement. You will have the opportunity to own the clinic by running solo sessions in a small town without worrying about competition. A typical day will include a mixed range of standard consultations, chronic disease management and minor procedures. No procedural skills or hospital work required. The clinic sees an average number of 15 patients per day. There is the ability to build up the patient base and see 25-30 patients a day.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • AHPRA Registration – Specialist or General (GPs close to achieving Fellowship)
  • Must be able to work in a solo practice

 

The Package:

  • 100% of billings and a minimum of $500 per three-hour session
  • Flexible working hours

Practice Details:

The clinic is committed to providing affordable and high-quality medical services to the people of Garfield and surrounding areas. It is well supported by the local community and has a strong emphasis on customer service. The clinic bulk-bills all patients with valid Medicare cards, including procedures and uses MD3 software. It has one consulting room and an on-site pharmacy.

 

The Area

Garfield is a town in Gippsland, 69 km south-east of Melbourne. It is located within the Shire of Cardinia. The town has an Australian Rules football team that plays in the Ellinbank and District Football League. Garfield has an undulating golf course on Thirteen Mile Road run by the Garfield Golf Club. The town’s recreation precinct has a swimming pool, lawn bowling club, netball and tennis courts, skateboarding site, a newly regenerated football oval, community hall and children’s playground. Garfield’s picture theatre is being restored for future multi-entertainment uses, and stands as a landmark in the town.

Garfield also has a newsagency, post office, bakery outlet, a milkbar and take-away shop, a combined-churches charity shop, an equestrian outfitters, a pet shop, a gift shop, a chemist, butcher, and a bank branch and a unisex hairdresser. The farming land nearby also has an influx of horse owners in recent years.
