General Practitioner: Bendigo

Position Description:

  • 19AB exemption may be available
  • Minimal after Hours and on-call optional

The established and busy multidisciplinary practice is seeking a full-time GP to deliver quality health care and also provide VMO services to the local hospital as a part of their duties.

Working in a close knit team of 6 Doctors, you will receive excellent administrative and medical support from the highly experienced administration staff, Practice Manager and Nurses.

You will be provided with  detailed orientation and induction program and ongoing mentoring as part of the onboarding process.

Essential Criteria:

  • AHPRA registration – Specialist
  • Australian health system experience (hospital or general practice)


  • The ability to confidentially maintain accurate records in accordance with BCHS procedures.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
  • General Practitioners with skills or interest in the following areas will be most welcome:
    • Sexual and Reproductive Health
    • Complex Chronic Disease Management
    • Drug and Alcohol Management
    • Men’s/Women’s Health
    • Children and Adolescent Medicine
    • Pain Management
    • Mental Health
    • Family Medicine
    • General Medicine

The Package:

  • 12 month, ongoing contract
  • Negotiable percentage of billings
  • Additional after- hours / on – call rates
  • Great earning potential subject to Medical practitioner award 2010

Practice Details:

Doctors are supported by a Practice Manager, 1 Full time and 1 full time and 2 part time Practice Nurses) and an experienced administration team. The practice consists of 10 modern consulting rooms and a 1-bed treatment room. Services such as pathology, ECG’s, wound management, spirometry and lesion removals are performed within the treatment room. Other services available to the clinic include Specialist Cardiology, Immunizations, Work Cover Assessment, Diabetes Education, Podiatry, and Psychology. It is a proud and active participant in the GP in Schools Program.

The City of Greater Bendigo is one of Victoria’s largest and most progressive regional centres. It is a modern, thriving city with beautiful gardens and parks. It has a bustling local economy and is a notable cultural community. It has an interesting history closely connected to the Gold Rush of the 1850s and has many historical buildings and it proudly recognises its multicultural history heritage.

There are a variety of sporting clubs, parks and recreational facilities located throughout the region. Schooling options in Bendigo are excellent from pre-school to secondary with both private and public options available. Tertiary institutions are Latrobe University and a TAFE facility.
