General Practitioner: Benalla

Role

You will be joining a well-established medical practice that has been serving the local community for more than 30 years. The busy practice with an existing patient base requires an additional GP to meet the acute, chronic and ongoing health needs of the local community. The clinic provides a friendly and professional service to ensure the provision of affordable primary health.

There are no booked consultations on weekends with the after-hours/on-call being shared between the doctors in town. This roster is not onerous – one weekend in 14, and one week night every 3 weeks. You will complete your hospital rounds before your first appointment in the mornings.

Ideally, you will hold General Practice experience or extensive Australian hospital experience. There may be the opportunity for you in Obstetrics, Anaesthetics or Minor Surgery if you are appropriately qualified as the clinic is located close to Benalla Hospital.

Essential Criteria

  • AHPRA – General or Specialist registration
  • Experience or interest in Obstetrics, Anaesthetics

The Package

  • 65% of mixed billings
  • After hours/on-call flat rate of $426 for weekends and $1,065 for weekends + 65% of billings
  • VMO rights at Benalla Hospital
  • On-call accommodation

Practice Details:

This accredited teaching practice hosts four consulting rooms, a nurses’ room and a dedicated treatment room.  The clinic has a small, friendly team of three part-time GPs, three Practice Nurses and a diabetes educator. You will also be supported by a Practice Manager and administration staff.

Other services provided include diet education, hearing services, counselling, podiatry and aged care.

Practice Hours: Monday – Friday: 9:00am – 6:00pm

The Area

Located 200 km north-east of Melbourne this ‘Rose City’ is part of Victoria’s High Country. It is easily reached by the Hume Highway or the Wodonga Railway line.  With a population of 9,000 living in the Benalla urban area and 14,000 across surrounding towns, the region offers a supported and enjoyable lifestyle with good quality schools (including a TAFE college), community and health services and shopping facilities.  Major features of the region include Lake Benalla, Mount Samaria Park and Reef Hills State Park.  Located close to snowfields you will be surrounded by some of Victoria’s best food and wine.  Other recreational opportunities include sporting facilities, an aquatic centre, an art gallery, performing arts convention centre, airport and botanical gardens.
