The RWAV Rural Ambassador Student Grant aims to enhance opportunities for students interested in rural health to participate in or lead events and activities that promote rural health.
The grant aspires to raise awareness of the opportunities available in rural healthcare to young people. This is a crucial step in attracting and retaining the future rural health workforce.
RWAV’s Rural Clinical Placement Grants support medical, nursing and allied health students to undertake placements in regional or rural Victoria. Successful applicants may be awarded up to $1000 (including GST), dependent on funding availability. Applicants are expected to complete the clinical placement in 2020/2021.
Grants offer financial assistance for travel and accommodation costs associated with the clinical placement. A clinical placement is considered as a continuous period in one location.
The UCAT Exam Preparation Grant is to give high school students in year 11 or 12 living in Victorian rural and regional priority areas, as indicated by the RWAV 2020 Needs Assessment, the opportunity to participate in preparation classes for the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT).
In partnership with MedEntry, RWAV are offering grants that will cover the two-day UCAT preparation workshops that will run as interactive, livestream, online events in 2021. Successful applicants will also have access to MedEntry’s online resources well in advance of the workshop.
Due to COVID-19, the Victorian Rural Health Conference 2020 has been rescheduled until 2021.
RWAV and the Rural Doctors’ Association Victoria (RDAV) are bringing rural health professionals together to learn and connect at the Victorian Rural Health Conference
2021 in Bendigo. The conference provides an opportunity to discover some of the fantastic hidden treasures of rural health including primary care initiatives, rural doctor mentors and strategies to improve access to health services for rural communities.
The aim of this grant is to offer financial support for costs associated with conference registration, basic accommodation and some meals. Travel is excluded.
Guidelines and application form for the 2021 Victorian Rural Health Conference will be made available closer to the conference date.
