Please note that the Future Workforce Grants are currently under review with new guidelines expected to launch in early 2020.

In the interim the 2019 guidelines will apply.

Please note that the Rural Ambassador Leadership Grant and the Rural Health Careers Promotion Grant will close as of December 31 2019. Any applications received prior to this period will still be assessed but no applications received after this period will be accepted.

RWAV FUTURE WORKFORCE GRANTS

RWAV RURAL CLINICAL PLACEMENT GRANTS 2019/20

RWAV’s Rural Clinical Placement Grants support medical, nursing and allied health students to undertake placements in regional or rural Victoria. Successful applicants may be awarded up to $1000 (including GST), dependent on funding availability. Applicants are expected to complete the clinical placement in 2019/2020.

Grants offer financial assistance for travel and accommodation costs associated with the clinical placement. A clinical placement is considered as a continuous period in one location.

2020 VICTORIAN RURAL HEALTH CONFERENCE STUDENT GRANT

RWAV and the Rural Doctors’ Association Victoria (RDAV) are bringing rural health professionals together to learn and connect at the Victorian Rural Health Conference
2020 in Bendigo. The conference provides an opportunity to discover some of the fantastic hidden treasures of rural health including primary care initiatives, rural doctor mentors and strategies to improve access to health services for rural communities.


The aim of this grant is to offer financial support for costs associated with conference registration, basic accommodation and some meals. Travel is excluded.

Guidelines and application form for the 2020 Victorian Rural Health Conference will be made available soon.

RURAL GENERAL PRACTICE EXPERIENCE DAY OUT GRANT

The Bendigo Rural Experience Day Out is an opportunity for students considering a rural clinical placement to meet health practitioners or students in their discipline, and visit a regional community. The day is intended to showcase the different opportunities within a regional setting (Bendigo), providing insight into various disciplines.


RWAV will provide a grant to support a day visit to successful applicants. The costs associated with meal and travel are included.

RURAL HEALTH CAREERS PROMOTION GRANT

The Rural Health Careers Promotion grants is a key initiative of the Future Workforce strategy from RWAV and aim to raise awareness of the opportunities available in rural healthcare. It is a crucial step in attracting and retaining the future rural health workforce.


The grants aim to offer financial support for costs associated with activities promoting rural health careers including registration fees, resource development, events, travel,
accommodation, and meals.

RURAL AMBASSADOR LEADERSHIP GRANT

The Rural Ambassador Leadership grant is a key initiative of the Future Workforce strategy from RWAV and aims to drive stronger engagement in rural health careers by enhancing the leadership capability of rural health students and graduates.


The grants are to offer financial assistance for costs associated with participating in leadership programs/activities including registration fees, resource development, travel, accommodation, and meals.

AN INTRODUCTION TO CULTURAL SAFETY IN ABORIGINAL HEALTH FOR STUDENTS

In collaboration with Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), RWAV is offering grants for students to attend “An introduction to cultural safety in Aboriginal health for students”. The grant covers course registration and lunch.

This does not include travel and other expenses which need to be borne by the student.
