RWAV hosted a state-wide Health Workforce Stakeholder Group (HWSG) meeting on Monday 19 of April 2021 across three stakeholder groups from the Murray, Western Victoria and Gippsland rural regions.
The group originally met in February 2021, providing RWAV an opportunity to present the findings for this year’s Health Workforce Needs Assessment and for members to collectively discuss the priorities for the Rural Health Workforce Support Activity (RHWSA) Program.
As a continuation of these discussions, the purpose of this subsequent meeting was to inform members of RWAV’s intended health workforce support strategy, prior to the development of the RHWSA Program Activity Work Plan for the 2021-22 financial year. It was also an opportunity for stakeholders to provide feedback, discuss workforce issues encountered, opportunities to address issues, and to provide updates on key initiatives members are working on.
Representatives from RWAV, EVGPT, MCCC, RACGP, SARRAH, GPRA, VACCHO, the Department of Health, rural Primary Health Networks, rural clinical schools, regional training hubs and health organisations were in attendance.
We thank members for supporting RWAV’s efforts to improve access to quality health care in country Victoria and look forward to our continued work together.
