Locum services are considered vital to enable rural GPs to take leave from practices for professional development or recreational purposes or in the case of illness.
RWAV provides subsidy to support the provisions of locum services to rural GPs. Rural GPs can access locums through their own networks, private agencies or through locum programs conducted by their local Division of General Practice.
RWAV has a register of locums who are available to work in rural areas.
