Individual Clinical Skills Training Grants
The purpose of these grants is to increase the quality and accessibility of Clinical Skills Training to rural GPs within the boundaries of Victorian Rural divisions by providing subsidies to assist rural GPs to undertake Clinical Skills Training similar to, but not necessarily restricted to:
- Courses such as EMST, APLS, ELS, REST, ALSO, RECRM, RACRM 1&2, Radiography and Dermatology
- Longer-term clinical skills training and courses, which fit within the realm of general practice, and conducted by recognised training providers, including postgraduate masters and diploma courses
These grants are also available for GP Teacher Training courses which aim to increase the cohort of GP Teachers in rural Victoria. These are similar to, but not necessarily restricted to:
- APLS and other life support instructor courses, Emergency Medicine Teacher Training (EMTT), RWAV General Practice Teacher Training (GPTT), RWAV Case Based Learing for Small Groups and other relevant teacher training courses
RWAV provides training subsidies for clinical skills programs at 100% to $1,100.00 and above $1,100.00 at a level of two thirds of all costs to a cap of $3,300.00 per GP per annum; subject to meeting the eligibility criteria and were the training is deemed of tangible benefit to the local community (figures quoted are inclusive of GST). Individual GP Clinical Skills Training grants are specifically targeted to training which responds to identified clinical skills shortages. Training must be conducted in Victoria. Other states will be considered if the need is identified and no training is available in Victoria.
The Individual Clinical Skills Training Grant will not fund Vocational Training. However, the grant may subsidise clinical skills training undertaken within ROMPs exam preparation programs, as approved by the RWAV Rural Assessment Panel (RAP).
Where programs are funded by other sources, such as via DHS CPD grants, the applicant will not be eligible for funding from RWAV. The applicant may apply for either a DHS grant or an RWAV grant, but not both.
