Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Rural GP's Subsidy Program

This program enables GPs working in rural general practice in Victoria (RRMA 3 to 7) to claim up to $3,000.00 per financial year for CPD activities.

Rural stream registrars undertaking GP terms in RRMA 3 to 7 are also eligible to claim subsidies for CPD activities not funded through their vocational training.

MedicarePlus Training for Rural and Remote Procedural GPs Program

ACRRM & the RACGP have been contracted by the Department of Health and Ageing to administer key components of the MedicarePlus Training for Rural and Remote Procedural GPs program.

Component 1: Grant for GPs Practising in Surgery, Anaesthetics and/or Obstetrics
This program supports procedural rural doctors in RRMAs 2-7 for skills maintenance and upskilling in anaesthetics, obstetrics and surgery covering both formal (courses) and informal (clinical attachments) delivery modes. It is in the form of a grant of $20,000 per doctor per financial year based on 10 days training at $2,000 per day.

Component 2: Grant for GPs Practising Emergency Medicine
From April 2007, GPs practising emergency medicine in RRMAs 3-7 are able to access grant payments under this Program.

The emergency medicine grant payment is calculated on a maximum of $6,000 per GP per financial year for 3 days of upskilling or skills maintenance activities. The total grant payable will be based on a rate of $2,000 per day.

Applications will not be accepted if funding is or has been sought through the RACGP or ACRRM Procedural Training Grants Program.
