MERV (previously known as RMEV) is the overarching committee of rural medical education stakeholders in Victoria that provides a forum for the sharing, advocacy and support of sustainable integrated rural GP education, training and development.  MERV meets every six weeks by teleconference.

The MERV committee includes representation from GPs, GP Supervisors, the Victorian RTPs, GPET, ACRRM, RACGP, Melbourne, Monash, UNSW and Flinders Universities, Post Graduate Medical Council Victoria, rural Divisions of General Practice, rural and regional hospitals, VACCHO, DHS, DoHA and RWAV.

MERV was convened in 2002 and is the amalgamation of the RWAV Regional Training Network (RRTN) Steering Committee and the Rural GP Training in Vic Working Group (RGPTVWG) which existed for 10 years supporting rural vocational placements and workshops.

The MERV committee has a University Forum Subcommittee which supports the running of state wide forums on the implementation of the rural medical undergraduate training placements and involvement of rural GPs as teachers and mentors.

If you require further information or are interested in participating in MERV contact RWAV on (03) 9349 7800.
