A valuable overview and map of Victoria's ethnic diversity is available from Information Victoria. The map displays the proportion of the Victorian population born overseas by Local Government Area, including all regional and rural areas - www.information.vic.gov.au/resources/atlas.
Information Victoria have developed information on the distribution of cultural groups extracted from the 2001 Census of Population and Housing. The Population Section has a snapshot of immigration and ethnic diversity in regional Victoria - www.doi.vic.gov.au.

The Immigration Museum, in the Old Customs House at 400 Flinders Street, Melbourne, offers a fascinating history of migration to Victoria over the past 150 years. There is a bookshop and extensive library open to the public. In addition, throughout rural Victoria there are local museums in many country towns which provide wonderful material about the settlement of migrants and the development of the local social and economic infrastructure. |
