RWAV is one of a number of recruitment providers contracted by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) to work in partnership to recruit appropriately qualified OTDs (GPs and other specialists) to fill medical vacancies in approved districts of workforce shortage.
RWAV has been contracted to recruit to RRMA 3 to 7 areas of Victoria. RWAV is unable to assist in the recruitment and placement of doctors in RRMA 1 to 2 areas of Victoria (ie Melbourne, Geelong and surrounding suburbs). OTDs applying to RWAV to work through SMC must be prepared to live and work in regional and rural Victoria.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for SMC you must:
- Be an OTD (ie did not obtain your primary medical qualification in Australia)
- Have not worked in the Australian medical workforce during the previous 12 months
- Be prepared to work for a minimum 12 month period in an eligible vacancy
Your qualifications and/or GP experience must fall into Category one to four of the National Reference Panel on OTDs (see below). Doctor’s with experience falling within Category five are not eligible for SMC through RWAV. SMC applicants must be elegible to undertake the scheme or RLRP assesment.
